How do I get started?

- Explore cabinet styles and become familiar with the diverse types and designs of cabinets available.
- Use our how to measure guide to help measure your kitchen and draw up a floor plan so you will have an idea of the types of cabinets you will need, how many and their dimensions.
- Set a budget.
- Order any samples needed to ensure you are satisfied with the style and color you have chosen.
What are the cabinets made from?
Our custom cabinets are manufactured from high grade 5/8” thick Prefinished Birch Plywood. Each cabinet features a full 5/8” thickness back panel as well for added strength and to ensure the cabinets assemble square. This also allows ease of installation with the ability to screw the cabinets to the wall in any location within the cabinet, as opposed to just having top and bottom stretchers. Plywood is a much stronger and more durable material than Melamine.
What are your doors and drawer fronts made from?
Our doors are manufactured from HDF (High Density Fiberboard) and are heat wrapped with high quality thermofoil. This product is ideal for any environment where cabinets are used as they are more resistant to warping, cracking, and flaking than wood doors when exposed to relative humidity changes. These doors are also super easy to clean.
What about glass doors?
All our doors are available either as a frame or as a frame with mullions so that glass inserts can be installed. We can supply clear tempered inserts, or you may source the glass from a glass supplier in your local area. Frame or mullion doors will have a groove on the back that allows for 3mm thick glass installation using our supplied rubber glass retainer molding. No need for messy silicone!
Will small drawer fronts have the same detail as the doors?
Depending on the door or drawer-front style you select, drawer fronts can be made with a routed look to match the doors for sizes over 4 1/8” – 5 7/8” tall. Drawer fronts smaller in height than that will be a slab front with a matching outside edge profile to the doors, as it is too small to produce a routed look. For more information, visit the product page of the door style you are ordering for the minimum height for routed fronts.
What are dovetail drawer boxes?
Dovetail refers to the way we join the four sides of our drawer boxes. Dovetail joinery uses a pin and tail joint where pins are cut on one side of the box and tails on the other. The tail resembles the tail of a dove, hence the name. The two sides lock together without the need for screws or nails, creating an exceptionally durable, aesthetically-pleasing joint.
What colour are the insides of the cabinets?
Our cabinets are custom manufactured from UV-coated natural Birch Plywood.
Do I need end panels?
End panels are required for any exposed cabinet end. End panels are 5/8” thick and come in the same material and color as your doors to finish off your custom cabinet. End panels need to be attached by screwing them on from the inside of the cabinet.
What is a decorative end panel?
A decorative end panel is a cabinet door that is applied to the side of the cabinet to mimic the look of a door. By adding a decorative door, a more custom look can be created. Decorative doors are not required.
How do I know what hinge I need?
Frameless cabinets typically require 110-degree soft-close hinges for standard cabinets, plus some specialty hinges for corner cabinets. Our internal manufacturing design team will ensure the correct hinges are shipped as per the cabinets ordered.
What is hinge boring and on-center measurements?
Hinge boring refers to the 35mm holes that are bored into the back of a door to accommodate the cup of a concealed hinge. We bore hinge holes at a standard measurement of 3.94” (100mm) on-center. This means that the hinge hole will be drilled 3.94” (100mm) from the top of the door to the center of the top hinge hole and 3.94” (100mm) from the bottom of the door to the center of the bottom hinge hole. We can bore for hinges at a different location should you require it, just let us know on your order.
Will you drill the holes for my cabinet door handles or pulls?
No, this is better done onsite. This way you can make sure you place them exactly where you want once you see the door hanging in your kitchen. Remember to drill these holes from the front of the door, use a pencil to mark each hole location and make or use a jig, if possible, to ensure consistent placement.
Do handles come with the cabinets?
Yes, you can select the knobs and pulls you’d like to add to your order, or you may purchase your own elsewhere.
Do I need a toe kick?
We do recommend buying enough 96″ pieces of toe kick for your cabinet project to create a uniform look across the front and to hide the seams where there are multiple cabinets side by side. All toe kick and molding must be cut to size on-site.
Do base cabinets come with toe kick inset?
All base cabinets come with a default toe kick = 4 ½” high with 2 1/8” inset.
Does the crown molding come already cut for my design?
Crown molding comes in a full-length piece that is typically 96″ long. All toe kick and molding must be cut to size on-site.
What is light rail molding?
This molding is used under wall cabinets to hide the installation of under-cabinet lighting, or just to provide a more finished look.
Are the cabinets strong enough to hold granite or concrete?
Absolutely. Our cabinets are strong enough to hold granite or concrete countertops, particularly because of our unique feature of our 5/8” full thickness plywood back for each cabinet.
Can I get samples?
Yes, we offer discounted sample doors and color swatches of all our styles and colors. Design is a huge part of your new kitchen, so we want you to feel comfortable and excited about your choice! We strongly encourage you to purchase sample doors for all styles you are considering so you can see the true quality and finish before purchasing your kitchen.
How hard is it to put together RTA cabinets?
Most customers find it to be a straightforward process, especially with the guides we have on our website to reference. Check out our instructions for assembly to help with your installation.

Your order may be canceled within 24 hours of confirmation, please contact us at support@encorecabinetsnow.com as soon as possible. Cancellation after this window is impossible due to the custom manufacturing process. While we will try our best to accommodate any requests, many times, orders will either ship or be committed to production after 24 hours.
Can I add more items to my order?
If more items are needed to complete your order, you will need to place a new order. Orders are processed and placed into production 24 hours after they are received. Because of this, we are unable to make any changes to orders after that time.
What if I entered my shipping address wrong or need to change it?
Please contact customer service immediately if you need to change your shipping address. If a shipping address is changed after an order ships or if an address was entered incorrectly on an order and needs to be changed while the order is in transit, most freight companies will charge a rerouting fee. We will contact the freight company ASAP if your order has already shipped and find out if there are any fees involved. We will do our best to eliminate or reduce any fees, but if the freight company charges for the change, you will be responsible for these charges. If we are not notified of the error prior to shipment or delivery, we will not be able to issue a refund or reship your items free of charge.
I mismeasured, can I return a cabinet?
Since all cabinets are custom manufactured for your specific order, returns are not possible. Please place a new order for any items required to complete your project.

How will my order be shipped?

When will my order ship?
Most Ready-to-Assemble Cabinet orders will ship in 15-20 business days. Each order is custom made to your exact specifications, giving you a unique product to fit your space.
How long will my order take to get to me once it ships?
Depending on your location, shipping times vary from 1-5 business days.
Will I receive my entire order in one shipment?
Yes! All products are custom manufactured and shipped together. Contact our customer service department if you wish to explore splitting up your order to receive some products quicker.
Do I need to be home to accept my delivery?
If your order is shipping with a freight company, you must be home for the delivery, if not, the freight company will not be able to deliver, and they will charge you a re-delivery fee. After your order ships, customer service will email you a shipment confirmation which includes all your shipping information. Then, once the order arrives at your local freight terminal, the freight company will contact you to schedule the delivery date. This way, you will know exactly when to expect them. If your order is shipping with a courier (with FedEx or UPS), no one needs to be home, the package(s) will be left at your door, even if no one is there.
What is a lift gate?
The lift gate is like an ‘elevator’ on the back of the freight truck that lowers the pallet onto the curb. You would then unload the pallet from the curb as opposed to the back of the truck. This service is included on all residential delivery shipments.
Will I be able to accept my delivery by myself?
Many cabinets will be large and heavy, so having one or two additional people to help is highly recommended. Delivery drivers work for the freight companies (not for Encore Cabinets), and for insurance purposes, are not able to assist in unloading any cabinets so he or she would not be able to help during this process.
What do I need to do when receiving a freight delivery besides unloading the cabinets and accessories?
Please ensure to do take the following steps:
- Take a photo of the pallet(s) coming off the back of the truck. Please do this even if the shipment is intact as this can be helpful if an issue arises down the line.
- It is extremely important that you do a piece count and make sure all ordered pieces are there (unless you have been informed of any out-of-stock items). Some pieces may be packaged together (i.e. crown molding, fillers, etc). If you can, open any accessory boxes while the driver is there to make sure all pieces are accounted for. If you are not able to locate an item, document this on the proof of delivery the driver will ask you to sign. Missing items must be noted on the driver’s copy of the proof of delivery. If shortages are not noted on the proof of delivery, we will not be able to reship these items for no charge. Please also note if the shrink wrap is broken or not intact upon delivery.
- In addition to doing a piece count, you want to check each box for visible damage. The trucking company is required to let you check the outside of each box. You do not need to open each box, just check over the outside for cracks, dents, holes, etc. If the driver tells you they will not wait for you to check over the boxes, call the trucking company and explain that you need to note any visible damage on the proof of delivery and the driver is giving you a hard time (this is not very common). The trucking company’s phone number will be on the shipping paperwork. The boxes are checked in the warehouses before being shipped out, however, as soon as the trucking company picks up your order, they are responsible for any damages that occur in transit and will only approve replacements if the damages are noted on the driver’s copy of the signed delivery receipt.
If you have any questions about this process, do not hesitate to contact us!
How much time is allowed for inspecting cabinets for shipping damage?
After receiving your shipment, you will have five days to go through your order checking for any concealed damage. The carrier must be notified within five days of delivery of any concealed damage for the claim to be considered.
Should I refuse a damaged item on my delivery?
No, do not refuse any damaged items, just note the damages on the shipping paperwork the driver has, have them sign and make sure you receive a copy. Then contact us to take care of the damaged item(s). Please make sure to contact us within five days. We reserve the right to determine the most cost effective and efficient method to correct damaged items because of the defect or freight/shipping damage. This may not involve a total cabinet or accessory replacement. For example, a cabinet with a damaged door would receive a new door – not an entirely new cabinet.

How can I pay for my order?
We accept MasterCard and Visa upon submission of order.
When will my credit card be charged?
Credit card authorization is needed before an order can be processed, so your credit card will be charged when your order is placed.

I do not like the finish or style of the cabinets; can I return my order?

I received the wrong cabinet or accessory, now what?

Pictures or other documentation may be required and if the incorrect item(s) needs to be returned, we will provide you with a shipping label.
